Client:

Mesa Airlines is a regional airline that was founded in 1982 in Farmington, New Mexico upon an actual mesa. They started with a single plane operating flights between Farmington and Albuquerque as Mesa Air Shuttle before changing to Mesa Airlines in 1987. Today, Mesa Airlines has over 150 aircrafts, operating flights for United Airlines to shuttle people from smaller airports to larger ones, with hubs in 6 major cities. Though United sells the tickets, Mesa Airlines provides the plane, crew, and maintenance for the flights.

Project Overview:

Mesa Airlines was looking to expand their brand by adding a variant logo while celebrating their 40th anniversary. They needed a strong logomark to work in conjunction with their already existing brand, while still keeping the design simple to be printed on single color promotional items. They wanted to draw focus to their roots by incorporating a mesa into the design. By simplifying their initial type, I provided a lockup that would work in a single color with a flexible orientation for both horizontal and vertical prints.
